📅 From November 22 to 23, 2023, from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm, 📍 on Perpignan's Allées Maillol, Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole is taking part in the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR) in partnership with AEPI, ELISE, IDA66, La Recyclerie, Le Relais, Les Bouchons D'Amour, Cliiink and the city of Perpignan.
🚮The EWWR is a major mobilization event to highlight and spread good production and consumption practices that promote waste prevention.
In 2022, the average per capita waste production in the PMMCU territory was 669 kg, all waste streams combined.
👉Reducing waste is an essential step towards:
- Saving exhaustible raw materials,
- Limiting the impact on the environment,
- Reducing the cost of waste for everyone.
♻️Successful waste reduction is therefore based on waste prevention, i.e. before waste is produced, because the best waste is that which is not produced!
Over the course of these two days, we'll be putting on events to raise awareness of the need to consume better, produce better, extend the life of objects and throw away less.
These events are aimed at the general public, elected representatives, employees, students and schoolchildren...
💬The main themes of action for waste reduction carried by the SERD are:
- Waste prevention (eco-design, over-packaging, disposable products,
- Hazardous waste prevention,
- Prevention of food waste,
- Promotion of composting,
- Re-use/repair/re-use.
