This year the Perpignan Rivesaltes Méditerranée Airport celebrates its 100th anniversary (airfield created in 1923). The centenary will be celebrated throughout this year 2023 with a series of events scheduled.
It was in 1923 that the Llabère aerodrome was inaugurated for the first time, in 1977 it became the Perpignan-Rivesaltes International Airport. Since the year 2000, the airport platform of Perpignan-Rivesaltes has become a real center of excellence in aeronautics. Various specialized companies have set up there.
The inauguration of the ARFF (Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting Service) took place on Tuesday, January 10. This new fire station will enable the company to intervene in the event of fires on aircraft and airport installations, to carry out risk prevention missions in order to improve the safety of people, property and the airport's assets, to carry out Animal Hazard Prevention missions, and also to ensure the maintenance and periodic checks of equipment, premises, infrastructure and personal protective equipment, to identify malfunctions and to contribute to improving air safety.
