May 8, 1945 marks the victory of the Allies over Germany and the end of the Second World War which cost the lives of tens of millions of people.Today we commemorate the memory of all those who fought to defend our freedoms. It is up to us to pass on to the young the memory and the republican values of the soldiers, the men and women, the anonymous ones who defended us at the cost of their lives. The duty of remembrance, a true moral obligation, must resound loud and clear so that the atrocities of past wars are not repeated and are not a fatality.
