City of Cabestany
Cabestany is located in the coastal plain of Roussillon, south-east of Perpignan and 10 minutes from the beaches of Canet. The name Cabestany comes from the Latin caput (head) and stagnum (water) which means "head of the pond".
The area of the municipality is 1,042 hectares and its altitude varies between 0 and 53 metres.
The story
Cabestany's agricultural land is mainly devoted to vines. Within the framework of its Local Urban Plan (2010), a green belt is intended to preserve part of the territory from the heavy urbanisation of the Roussillon plain.
Cabestany is known for its economic zones, its health centre, but also for the quality of its educational, cultural and sports facilities.
