Drinking water is one of the most closely watched food products. To ensure a sustainable supply of drinking water, it is essential to preserve the quality and volume of water resources. This new equipment is part of a series of actions that have been carried out for several years to secure the water resource.

 

The territory of Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole has 70 works in service with volumes ranging from 50 m3 to 14500 m3 for the Puig Joan site in Perpignan. In 2020, two structures were built in the municipalities of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque and Saint-Féliu d'Avall.

Taking into account the demographic development projections of the commune by 2030 and the age of the existing structure, PMM has decided, in conjunction with the commune of Saleilles, to create a new 1700 m3 reservoir.

 

The project was completed in February and represents an investment of 1.3 million euros by Perpignan Méditerranée Métropole.

The design of the structure as well as its operation have been optimized to ensure its operation and to face any risk. Aesthetically speaking, a mural was created to dress up and ensure the landscape integration of this structure, which is located at the entrance to the city, close to the houses.

Martinez, mayor of Cases de Pène and vice-president of PMM, A.Got, mayor of Saint-Laurent-de-la-Salanque and community councillor of PMM, F.Dadiès, mayor of Ponteilla-Nyls and community councillor of PMM, the agents of the PMM water department as well as many elected officials of the town of Saleilles.
